AEROGEL APPLICATIONS
Aerogel high-performance thermal insulation materials are flexible, robust, and easy-to-process thermal insulation solutions. They offer a viable option wherever there is limited space available for insulation. With an astonishingly low thermal conductivity of just λ = 0.015 W/mK, the required or desired insulation values can be achieved even with extremely thin layers.INTERNAL THERMAL INSULATION
The first few centimetres of insulation are by far the most efficient! With a thickness of only 1 cm of aerogel insulation, the U‑value of a bollenstein masonry can already be reduced by 50 %, and with 3 cm even by nearly 80 %! This not only significantly improves comfort, but also drastically reduces the risk of condensation and mould. SPACELOFT board, SPACELOFT roll, and Aeropan are furthermore vapour-permeable and completely water-repellent.

VENTILATED FAÇADE
Slim exterior walls are highly in demand in modern architecture. Moreover, savings in wall thickness lead to larger usable areas and higher returns on properties. The products Spaceloft roll, Spaceloft board, and the AERO WDVS insulation panels can be used to create highly efficient and slim constructions in ventilated façades.

TERRACE APPLICATION
In terrace renovations, the installation height available for new, insulated flat roof constructions is very limited. Installing barrier-free or accessible balcony doors with conventional insulation is often very difficult. With the products SPACELOFT roll or SPACELOFT board as impact sound and thermal insulation, highly efficient, slim constructions can be realised.

PITCHED ROOF
Achieving a U‑value of 0.2 W/m²K or lower is often not possible by insulating only between the rafters. The thermal insulation performance can be improved with SPACELOFT roll or SPACELOFT board as an additional insulation layer above or below the rafters. In loft conversions, headroom is often limited. Additional insulation above the rafters incurs high follow-up costs or results in unattractively thick roof structures.

ROOF EXIT (LUCARNE)
Where slim constructions are particularly in demand—such as in dormers, roof exits, or skylights—renovations often involve dismantling existing constructions and replacing them with new, thin elements. A 4 cm thick wooden board combined with 6 cm of aerogel insulation (SPACELOFT roll or SPACELOFT board) already achieves a U‑value of approximately 0.21 W/m²K! Any lacking insulation performance can be compensated elsewhere on the building envelope if needed.

WINDOW REVEAL
During renovations, windows are sometimes retained, leaving insufficient space for insulation in the reveals. Even from 1 cm of aerogel insulation (SPACELOFT roll, SPACELOFT board, or AERO WDVS insulation panel), the thermal bridge at the window connection area can be drastically reduced.
The detail sketches show only a few examples. There are numerous possible applications for innovative timber, metal, and window builders.

ROLLER SHUTTER BOX
Considerable energy is lost via roller shutter boxes and drafty windows, significantly reducing comfort due to cold draughts. With just 1 cm of AGITEC CRYOGEL Z, roller shutter boxes can be line‑insulated. Joints are additionally sealed airtight using aluminium adhesive tape. The shutter box cover is also sealed airtight using suitable measures.

FLOATING SCREED
Particularly in renovations, the installation height available for new, insulated floor constructions is very limited. Aerogel insulation materials (SPACELOFT roll, SPACELOFT board, or AERO WDVS insulation panels) used as impact sound and thermal insulation enable highly efficient, slim constructions. For planning and execution, SIA Standard 251 "Floating Screeds" and building authority regulations must be followed. Under certain circumstances, the allowable total thickness of AGITEC SPACELOFT according to SIA 251 may be exceeded. In these cases, however, the entire construction—particularly the hardness and thickness of the load distribution layer, depending on the intended load—must be calculated and determined by a structural engineer.

VENTILATION DUCT
Ventilation ducts often need to be thermally insulated on all four sides with at least 10 cm of synthetic rubber insulation. In installation shafts and between the concrete ceiling and the dropped ceiling, valuable space is lost. With SPACELOFT roll, SPACELOFT board, and CRYOGEL Z, high thermal insulation performance can be achieved in very tight spaces. Just 4 cm of aerogel insulation is sufficient to meet applicable energy regulations, saving 12 cm in total construction height. Ventilation systems—especially comfort ventilation—as well as long-distance pipes and cooling systems can thus be insulated efficiently and space-savingly.

HIGH-TEMPERATURE AREAS
High-temperature applications—including piping, industrial systems, and machinery—have special requirements for thermal insulation. With PYROGEL XT and PYROGEL XTF, high thermal insulation performance can be achieved in extremely tight spaces. The significantly reduced energy losses lead to substantial energy savings or efficient personnel protection.
